Day 1 – El Calafate Airport – El Chaltén

Day 2 – El Chaltén

Full-Day Trekking Laguna de los Tres: This is the most popular trek in El Chaltén, and it is certainly one of the prettiest. It starts with a transfer to the trailhead at El Pilar, located 17 km to the north of the town. We start walking in a dense forest of lengas, that protect us from the winds coming off the Continental Ice Field. Right from the beginning, we can see various glaciers: Marconi, Eléctrico, Cagliero and, in the distance, towards Lago del Desierto, the Vespignani Glacier.

The path is quite flat, and the climbs are gentle. We arrive at our first viewpoint, Piedras Blancas Glacier, and a bit later we leave the forest and end up in a clearing where we can admire in all their splendour the peaks of “S”, Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz and Guillaumet. We then climb 400m in about an hour until we arrive at Laguna de los Tres. During this steep kilometer up to Laguna de los Tres, the path will be rocky and with steps, and on the way up all the time, on arriving at the highest point on the path, we are rewarded by the majestic views of Fitz Roy, the glacier de los Tres and its lagoon. The grandeur of this location makes you feel very insignificant. From here we circle Laguna de los Tres and head towards the viewpoint of the Laguna Sucia and its glacier. After a rest and a bite to eat for lunch, we will start the descent and walk back to El Chaltén.

En route we go past some varying landscape, crystal clear streams, and we pass by Laguna Capri – a favourite spot for photographers. After visiting the lagoon we drop down into the valley where El Chaltén is located.

Day 3 – El Chaltén

Full-Day Trekking Laguna Torre: Next to the Fitz Roy, this is the other major trek, which ends with a beautiful view of one of the world’s most difficult mountains to climb, Cerro Torre. After meeting at our office downtown, we head off on the Laguna Torre footpath and after a small climb we enter a small ñire wood. From here, the path starts to gain height and straighten up alongside the Fitz Roy River until it arrives at a viewpoint of the river canyon and the Margarita Waterfall. After about an hour of walking, we arrive at the Mount Torre viewpoint. Here we will make the most of the magnificent views of Mount Torre, the Adela Range, and glaciers and have a short break. We then walk for 2 hours until we arrive at Laguna Torre. In this section, there is always the possibility of spotting a wide range of birds, including the Magellanic Woodpecker.

At Laguna Torre, it is usual to see huge icebergs and ice which has fallen off the Torre glacier face. You will also be able to visit the Agostini Campground which used to be a base camp for climbers from all over the world. It is also the source of the River Fitz Roy. This river may be crossed by using the Tyrolean rope; it’s used by the climbers to access Torre Glacier and to get to the base of the mountain they plan to climb. After a rest and lunch at the lagoon, we start the trek back to El Chaltén.

Day 4 – El Chaltén – El Calafate

Day 5 – El Calafate

Safari Náutico Boat Trip to the South Wall: Included in your tour is a boat trip to the south wall of the glacier (which can’t be seen from the walkways). From the water, the incredible height of the glacier can be appreciated. The boat departs from Puerto Las Sombras and takes around 45-60 minutes.

Eco Box lunch (premium): We have included a premium packed lunch for you today (excludes water). It will be brought by the guide or delivered to the hotel, depending on the excursion you are doing.

Optional Tour – Full-Day Perito Moreno Glacier Excursion: This tour takes you into Parque Nacional Los Glaciares for views of the immense Perito Moreno Glacier. En route to the glacier, you stop at the pier for a short boat trip to the south wall of the glacier. From the water level you get an amazing feel for its sheer size, more than 3 miles wide and over 20 stories high – a true highlight of Patagonia. We can organise a gourmet picnic lunch to enjoy on the walkways overlooking the glacier.

Day 6 – El Calafate – El Calafate Airport – Ushuaia Airport – Ushuaia

Day 7 – Ushuaia

Full Day Tierra del Fuego National Park Tour with 3 hours Trek: Tierra del Fuego National Park is one of the most frequently visited places in Ushuaia: it is close to the city and is easily accessible. However, it might not reveal its secret to those who do not get off the beaten path and who do not pay enough attention to the wonders hidden inside it. We propose to discover the true nature of the secret within the Tierra del Fuego National Park. With our specialized (and extraordinary) guides, we walk through the forests and canoe-down rivers, and across lagoons to get into the famous Lapataia Bay. The trip involves ornithology, geology, ecology, trekking, canoeing and photography, with a great lunch thrown in! The trek is around 3 to 3.5 hours and involves a total elevation gain of around 170 metres or 560 feet.

Optional Tour – Half-Day Tour in Tierra del Fuego National Park: This is a half-day excursion to the only National Park on the island. The park is located 12 kilometres to the west of Ushuaia, near the international border with Chile. The trip starts from the hotel heading towards the main station of the Fuegino Austral Railway as the prisoners were the first white men to enter these sub-Antarctic forests to provide fuel to the incipient community of Ushuaia. If you want to take the train, it will be done now. Otherwise, after a brief visit to its central hall with old photos of the beginnings of this city, we go to the Tierra del Fuego National Park gate.

Inside the park, you can appreciate the local flora composed of beech trees and different kinds of bushes and flowers. The fauna is a combination of native and foreign animals, such as Fuegian reddish foxes, beavers, rabbits, and many species of birds (more than 90). Ensenada Bay, Roca Lake and Lapataia Bay are the tourist attractions that we visit, including some short walks near the lake, beaver dams, and Lapataia Bay. At the end of the National Park we reach the end of the National Route Nº 3 (Panamerican Highway) located 3,063 kilometres away from Buenos Aires. After 4 hours of excursion, we return to Ushuaia.

Day 8 – Ushuaia

Half-Day Beagle Boat Trip: Small Group Beagle Boat Trip with Penguin Colony and Sea Lion Island. Leaving the local port and heading eastwards, the boat sails through the Beagle Channel towards the birds and sea lions islands. After a while, you will see the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, and then you pass by the city of Puerto Williams (in Chilean Tierra del Fuego) towards Martillo Island. There you stop to enjoy the amazing views of the Magellan penguin colony. From there you will begin the return to Ushuaia around the south coast of Tierra del Fuego. On the way back we will pass Remolino Ranch where the cruise and freighter ship Monte Sarmiento has lain since the beginning of last century.
