EXPLORING THE UYUNI SALT FLAT IN BOLIVIA

Day 1 – San Pedro de Atacama – Hito Cajón – Siloli Desert

Pick up from the town centre and transfer to the Hito Cajón border, where we will change vehicles. We will start the tour by visiting Laguna Blanca, the viewpoint of the Licancabur Volcano, to observe Laguna Verde. After this, we will visit the Salvador Dalí Rocks, and then we will go to the Polques Hot Springs, with a water temperature of 38°C (100°F). Visit to the morning sun geysers where we will make a stop to take pictures at 5770 masl, seeing Laguna Colorada, with its three types of flamingos, the Siloli Desert, the Stone Tree and continue to the hotel.

Day 2 – Desert – Uyuni

After breakfast at the hotel, we will continue to visit the 4 Altiplanic Lagoons: Laguna Cañapa, Laguna Hedionda, Laguna Honda, Chiarcota and Laguna Ramaditas, which are used by flamingos as feeding and resting points during their migratory movements. Visit to the Ollagüe Volcano viewpoint (semi-active volcano) located at 5,865 meters above sea level, from where you can observe the fumarolic activity emanating from the volcano. Then we will go to the hotel.

Day 3 – Uyuni – Villa Mar

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Train Cemetery in Uyuni, then visit the village of Colchani and see the manual process of salt, the artisan salt market, stores with llama and alpaca wool fabrics, hats, and ponchos.
You will also appreciate the piles of salt, salt water eyes, monument to the Dakar Rally, world flags square, first salt hotel (now museum restaurant), where lunch will be held, when it is cold and windy with dust.
Visit to the giant salt structures: salt staircase, also called stairway to heaven, salt pyramid, salt clock, salt hand, and salt condor.

Picnic lunch on the salt flat, tablecloths, and colorful pillows (weather permitting).

After lunch, visit to Incahuasi Island which is characterized by its giant cactus, where you will hike to the top of the island. There, you will be able to observe the salt flat in its entirety. On the way back we will make stops to take pictures and videos in perspective.

Finally, visit to the city of Uyuni, return to the colonial church of San Cristóbal and return to the hotel.

Day 4 – Villa Mar – Hito Cajón – San Pedro de Atacama

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure at 05:30 am in order to arrive at the border of Hito Cajón between 09:30 am and make the respective transfer.
