OVERLAND EXPEDITION IN TIERRA DEL FUEGO CHILE & ARGENTINA

This Tierra del Fuego overland tour explores the remote landscapes of Chile and Argentina on a unique 8-day journey.

Day 1 – Punta Arenas Airport – Blanco Lake

Arrive in Punta Arenas on a flight before 12:00. Pick up at the airport and depart to Tierra del Fuego (alternatively, you can fly the day before and stay in Punta Arenas). Learn more in our Blog.

The trip to Tierra del Fuego from Punta Arenas is very beautiful, and we take it via the first narrows (a 20-minute crossing by ferry), passing through Estancia San Gregorio, one of the oldest ranches in the area, and Cerro Sombrero, the oil and gas capital of the island.

Arriving at Las Lengas Lodge around 6 – 7 PM. Lunch along the way and dinner back in the lodge.

Day 2 – Trekking day

Breakfast. In the morning we will have spectacular trekking through a circuit in Laguna del Cura, belonging to Estancia Tres Lagunas, which includes 2,000 hectares of lenga forest with amazing fauna. In the afternoon, walk to Blanco Lake and Valle Castores. Return to the lodge. Box lunch during the excursion and dinner at the lodge included.

Day 3 – Full Day excursion Fagnano Lake

Breakfast. Today we will visit the famous Fagnano Lake, a binational lake shared with Argentina that on the Chilean side is called Cami Lake passing by the viewpoints of the Fueguina mountain range. Condor sighting. We will also visit Caleta María and the Almirantazgo Seno. Return to the lodge. Box lunch during the excursion and dinner at the lodge included.

Day 4 – Full day King Penguin and Cameron

Breakfast. Travel across remote Patagonian landscapes to Bahía Inútil, where King Penguin colonies gather on the shores and create an unforgettable wildlife encounter. Continue to Estancia Cameron and soak up the atmosphere of a traditional Tierra del Fuego ranch, surrounded by open steppe and sea views. Enjoy a hearty lunch at Estancia Tres Hermanos before returning to the lodge, tracing back along windswept roads and endless horizons that define this legendary land.

Day 5 – Fishing Day

Breakfast. Today we will have a great fishing day in Blanco Lake, famous for its high chances of catching large amounts of Fario, Rainbow and Fontinalis trouts. The landscape of Blanco Lake will allow not only a great fishing day but also a high-level connection with nature. Return to the lodge. Box lunch during the excursion and dinner at the lodge included.

Day 6 – Blanco Lake – Ushuaia

Blanco Lake – Ushuaia (4 horas)

Breakfast and check out. Today we will cross Tierra del Fuego on the Argentine side. The trip itself is quite an excursion because the beauty of the landscape will leave you speechless. We cross the Bellavista Pass, just 15 minutes from the lodge, and then pass in front of the most famous and oldest estancias in Argentine Patagonia: Estancia José Menéndez and Estancia la Primera Argentina to finally arrive in Ushuaia. Free afternoon to explore the city. Accommodation at hotel with breakfast included. NOT included: lunch an dinner.

Day 7 – Ushuaia

Breakfast and check out. Today we will have a full-day excursion to the main landmarks near Ushuaia. Visit Estancia Harberton, the first settlement of white men in Tierra del Fuego, the birthplace of Lucas Bridges´family, the first English settler in Tierra del Fuego and a National Monument. Lunch is included at the estancia. After this unforgettable experience, we will return to Ushuaia. Return to the hotel. Lunch and dinner not included.

Day 8 – Departure from Ushuaia to your next destination

Breakfast and check out. Transfer to Ushuaia Airport or Cruise Port. End of the Trip.

Book an Antarctica Cruise from Ushuaia, following responsible travel standards inspired by IAATO.
Cross the Beagle Channel to Puerto Williams (Chile) (Monday to Saturday), stay 1 night and connect the next day with a flight to Punta Arenas (DAP Airways) for discovering the Chilean Patagonia. Or stay in Puerto Williams for the epic trekking circuit Dientes de Navarino.
