Entry to Chile from Abroad
Before all, it is essential to ensure that you and all members of your party of fellow travelers have all the necessary travel documents and comply with immigration requirements before your trip to Chile. It is also the duty of all passengers to make sure of the requirements imposed by neighbouring and/or connecting countries and if they wish to return to Chile from these countries. KMS Travel SpA is not to be held liable for any failure on the part of passengers to comply with these essential and obligatory formalities that we are advising.
Current Entry Requirements
Mandatory Documents
- Valid Passport: Must be valid for the entire duration of the stay with at least one blank page for the immigration entry stamp.
- Visa Requirements: Check the list of countries. Those listed as SI (yes) in the ¿REQUIERE VISA DE PERMANENCIA TRANSITORIA? (DO YOU REQUIRE A TRANSITORY STAY VISA?) column need a visa to enter Chile. Travelers from the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Schengen Area, Israel, Japan, etc. do not require a visa. Read more HERE. Although the information above comes from official sources, always double-check actual and present conditions with your local authorities or Chilean Consulates in your country.
- Visa Applications: Can be made online via the Chilean Ministry of External Affairs website (available in English and Spanish). Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by the selected Chilean Consulate.
- Tourist Visa for Australian Citizens: For visa criteria and application form, refer to E-visa para Australia (select preferred language at the top right of the website).
- Indian Citizens: Those with an Indian passport must obtain a “VISA DE PERMANENCIA TRANSITORIA” (Temporary Stay Visa) before traveling unless holding a valid U.S. visa (excluding Visa Type C) with at least six months of remaining validity at the time of entry.
Upon Arrival
- SAG Affidavit Form: All passengers must complete the form online to declare any animal or plant products brought into Chile. It can be filled out from 24 hours before entering Chile until the boarding time.
- Proof of Financial Solvency: Travelers must demonstrate a minimum amount of USD 46 per day of stay in Chile. This applies to all foreign nationals entering as tourists with a temporary stay permit. Enforcement is carried out by the Investigative Police (PDI) at all entry points. Passengers can show proof of funds through bank statements, credit/debit cards, or cash (digital images on your phone or paper documents are acceptable). For minors, the accompanying adult must demonstrate financial solvency.
Non Mandatory But Recommended
- Travel Medical Insurance: Although not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that all passengers take out travel insurance. It should cover personal accidents, medical expenses, emergency repatriation, personal liability, and any adventure activities not covered under a standard policy.

- KMS Travel SpA is not responsible for expenses incurred in the preparation of a canceled trip. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you take out travel cancelation insurance.
- All requests for cancelations and applicable refunds must be made in writing, sent to and received by KMS Travel SpA.
Travel Insurance and Health Advisory:
- Essential Protection: Travel insurance is mandatory for medical emergencies and trip disruptions.
- Comprehensive Coverage: Policies should cover personal accidents, medical expenses, air ambulance, loss of belongings, repatriation, and other losses/delays.
- Adventure Activities: Disclose participation in adventure activities to insurers for proper coverage.
- Cancelation/Interruption: Consider insurance for trip cancelation and interruption.
- Medical Conditions: Inform the travel company of any pre-existing conditions.
- Fitness to Travel: Trip leaders reserve the right to disqualify anyone unfit for the trip.
Liability:
- KMS Travel counts with comprehensive civil liability insurance.
- KMS Travel SpA is not liable for any additional costs due to modifications or
cancelations of reservations, nor for the extra expenses produced by losses or delays in the transportation of passengers, whether by land, sea, air, or lake. - KMS Travel SpA is not responsible for cancelations due to unforeseen events or force majeure and, in this case, the passenger will not be reimbursed.
- KMS Travel SpA is not responsible for the loss of documents or personal belongings during the trips or specific dates of the program.
- It is the responsibility of each passenger to undergo a preventive medical check-up prior to any activity, excursion, trekking, etc., to ensure that his/her health is in condition and compatible with the activity to be performed. During the dates of the program, if the passenger should withdraw from the trip before its completion, whatever the cause, no reimbursement will be made. It is the passenger’s responsibility to read this and be aware of his or her physical limitations.
- It is mandatory that passengers notify of any health problems when booking their trip, in order to determine if they can perform the activity or if they require any additional support. With guided programs, the instructor reserves the right to ask a passenger to leave the program because he/she is not fit to do it or because he/she may pose a risk to him/herself and/or the rest of the group. At the instructor’s discretion, the passenger may be asked not to continue with the trip if for any situation or circumstance the person is physically or mentally unfit to continue with the activity or does not follow the instructions. In such circumstances, there will be no refund.
- It is the passengers’ duty to have their documentation updated and to have the required permits and visas to cross the borders.
- KMS Travel SpA does not reimburse and is not liable for the passenger’s expenses in case he/she needs to be rescued or if, for any reason, he/she needs to leave the trip prematurely.
- KMS Travel SpA is not liable for any additional expenses incurred by the passenger if the trip is delayed due to weather conditions, strikes, theft, acts of nature, civil unrest, terrorism, acts of war, government restrictions or regulations, failure of any type of transportation on arrival or departure from the program, or any reason over which KMS Travel SpA has no direct control.
- KMS Travel SpA strongly suggests to purchase travel insurance to cover the costs of cancelations due to both weather conditions and force majeure, as well as accident insurance appropriate to the activities to be carried out. This insurance should cover personal accidents, repatriation expenses and any other fees that may occur due to damages, losses, injuries, delays or any other unexpected inconvenience that may be experienced during the trip. It is suggested that, when taking out travel insurance, you inform the insurer of the type of trip you will be going on, as not all insurances include adventure tourism activities, which may be included in your program itinerary.
- At the moment of confirming a service, the client grants KMS Travel SpA the present mandate to act on his/her behalf and for his/her account, with the right to contract all the services necessary to carry out the agreed itinerary such as accommodations, transfers, meals, excursions and other types of services indicated in the price of the program. The client authorizes KMS Travel SpA to use this mandate with other local operators or suppliers to contract the services that KMS Travel SpA may need to comply with the agreements made.
